FAQ

Is the change in estimate legitimate?

The 10-Q says the company completed an assessment in February 2026, lengthened the period of benefit for commissions from four to five years and applied it from fiscal 2027. A change in estimate is a procedure accounting standards allow; this article places the size of the change ($25.5m in Q2) next to the size of the quarter's profit (pre-tax income $3.9m). The criteria for judging it are in the subscriber section.

Does that make the swing to profit meaningless?

No. The operating loss a year earlier was $105.5m and this year $33.2m; even after removing the $25.5m effect of the change it is $58.7m, an improvement of $46.8m. Operating cash flow was $530.3m and free cash flow after capital expenditure $405.9m.

What are the DOJ and SEC information requests?

The commitments-and-contingencies note says the company has received requests for information from the U.S. Department of Justice and the SEC relating to its recognition of revenue and reporting of ARR for transactions with certain customers, the July 19 Incident and related matters, and is cooperating. It says a loss is reasonably possible but cannot be estimated, so no accrual has been recorded.
